-Threatens To Resist Any Protest

Less than 48 hours after former President George Weah threatened to resist the Boakai administration’s alleged attempt to pursue and link opposition politicians and his former officials to illicit drug trafficking, the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia, EFFL, has said it stands prepared to also resist any protest intended to disrupt ongoing investigations into the recent drug bust in the Country.

Speaking from abroad on Wednesday, former President Weah warning that he will return to the Country soon to mobilize partisans of his former ruling CDC and other Liberians to resist what he says was an attempt by the Boakai’s regime to go after and intimidate his party officials and his former officials of government.

“I will soon return to Liberia to mobilize CDCians and other Liberians to legally and politically to resist the government,” the former President said.

In an apparent reaction to Mr. Weah, Emmanuel Gonquoi, leader of the EFFL said as the former President plans to mobilize to stop the government from fighting drugs, he too, Gonquoi, will mobilize to resist him.

“Just as you will be mobilizing to stop the government from fighting drugs, I too will be mobilizing to resist such protests”, Gonquoi warned.

The EFFL political leader said while Young people are dying as a result of drug use, he and his group can’t afford to be political about this fight,

The ex-President he will use his CDC partisans and other Liberians to resist what he calls  a tyrannical attempt to trample upon Liberia’s burgeoning democracy, using political and legal means guaranteed under the Constitution.
