The leadership of the Township of West Point, backed by residents, has rehabilitated the only road passing through the Township, easing the difficulties commercial vehicles and motorcyclists faced in recent time to ply the route.
Township Commissioner, McPhearson Daweh, said the leadership took the initiative to fix the road because it was in a deplorable condition that made it difficult for vehicles to ply, stalling the movement of people and goods and services.
Commissioner Daweh said the Township’s leadership succeeded in the rehabilitation of the once deplorable as a result of technical support and expertise of the Ministry of Public Works.
He said the workforce was recruited from the Township for the implementagion of the project put at an estimated cost of eight hundred United States Dollars, US$800, adding that the money was used to buy the required materials.
“Residents of the Township were cooperative in achieving the objective”, Commissioner Daweh said.
Daweh also said the level of unity that the residents demonstrated showed their commitment to reforms in the Township.
He expressed gratitude to the residents for their unwavering cooperation and commitment to improve conditions in the Township.
Commenting on the recent celebration of Liberia’s 179th independence anniversary, Commissioner Daweh said the Township’s leadership held a holiday party for the children and distributed back-to-school packages amongst them.
He noted that with unity and love amongst the people of West Point, a lot of transformation will take place.
