SENATE CONFIRMS LOCAL GOV’T OFFICIALS

-Asst. Min. Jabateh’s Fate Uncertain  

The Liberian Senate has confirmed nine out of the eleven nominees President Joseph Boakai sent to the Senate for confirmation.

Two of the nominees, including Assistant Internal Affairs Minister for Peace Building, Mike Jabateh, were not confirmed because, according to the Senate, their positions were not captured by the Acts that created the Ministry of Local government. 

Among those the Senate confirmed were Francis Sakila Nyumalin, Sr. – Minister, Edward K. Mulbah, Deputy Minister for Local Government and Decentralization, Samuel F. Brown, Deputy Minister for Administration, and Madam Selena Polson Mappy, Deputy Minister for Research, Policy and Planning.

Others confirmed to the Ministry of Local Government include, J. Alphanso D. Perkins, Assistant Minister for Local Government and Decentralization and D. Emmanuel Wheinyue, Assistant Minister for Research, Policy and Planning.

Also confirmed by the Senate were Eddie Cornelius Dillah, Assistant Minister for Urban Affairs, Losene F. Bility, Assistant Minister for Legal Affairs & Traditional Marriages,  and William Jallah, Assistant  Minister for Culture and Tradition.
