President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has officially dedicated a newly constructed state-of-the-art media facility at the Liberia Broadcasting System compound in Paynesville , describing the project as the beginning of “a new era” for national broadcasting and democratic communication in Liberia.

The modern US$5.5 million Charles C. Gbenyon Broadcasting Complex, funded through China Aid as a gift from the Government of China, is expected to significantly improve Liberia’s media capacity and expand nationwide coverage through 24-hour satellite transmission services.

Speaking during the dedication ceremony, President Boakai praised the Government of China for what he described as a strong demonstration of friendship and partnership with Liberia.

“This facility represents a new chapter for the Liberia Broadcasting System and for the people of Liberia,” President Boakai declared. “It strengthens our ability to inform, educate, and unite the nation while advancing democracy, patriotism, and national development.”

The President said the completion of the Charles C. Gbenyon Broadcasting Complex marks a historic transformation for the Liberia Broadcasting System, noting that the institution’s transmission power has increased from 2,000 kilowatts to 10,000 kilowatts.

According to him, the upgrade will greatly enhance the station’s ability to reach audiences across Liberia and beyond. He also emphasized the need for the Liberia Broadcasting System to be treated as a true public institution dedicated to serving the interests of all Liberians.

The newly dedicated complex includes seven studios, a multipurpose digital audio recording studio, two digital production recording studios, a modern master control room, a fully equipped outside broadcast van, an IT room, satellite broadcasting capability, and a conference room.

The facility will provide 24-hour satellite broadcasting services aimed at improving news dissemination and expanding access to information throughout the country.

In addition, the complex features an 80,000-gallon water storage facility and a fire hydrant system designed to respond to emergencies.
