The Director General of the Center for National Documents and Records Agency (National Archives), Mr. Nelson Beangar, says plans are on the way to digitalize National Archives.
According to him, digitalization of the of the Center for National Documents and Records Agency is necessary because when it is done it will transforms physical history into accessible data and will also protects fragile records from decay, and will also afford people the opportunity to search millions of documents instantly from home, and helps the government share history openly with the public.
The Center for National Documents and Records Agency Serves as the national archives of Liberia, established in 1977 with the primary function is to collect, preserve, organize, and manage the country's official government records, historical documents, and cultural heritage, while also handling administrative services such as issuing marriage certificates.
It is functions as Liberia's national archives and central repository for public records and collects, preserves, and manages official government documents, presidential papers, and vital historical items like the 1847 Declaration of Independence.
He said management of the Center for National Documents and Records Agency will do all with in its powers to mobilize the resources to digitalize National Archives.
Meanwhile, seven coordinators of the National Documents and Records Agency assigned in Margibi, Ganta, Saniquelline, Bong,Bomi Grand Bassa Counties were each given a new motor bike to enhance the smooth operation of their work .
Presenting the Motorbikes to the coordinators the Director General of the Center for National Documents and Records Agency (National Archives)Mr. Nelson Beangar expressed thanks and appreciation to the Liberian government for their continual support in help them to get 16 motorbikes for all the coordinators across the country.
He said rest of the condonations for the counties who has not their motorbikes will be call to get their motorbike very soon from the of the Center for National Documents and Records Agency central office in Monrovia.
