-Liberia has shown maturity and magnanimity
THE DIPLOMATIC PATH CHOSEN by the Liberian government when the issue of land crisis ensued between the Republic of Liberia and that of the Republic of Guinea is highly commendable.
KNOWING THE EFFECTS OF diplomacy on conflict resolution, we know that this situation would amicably be resolved for good because diplomacy has a profound impact on conflict resolution, influencing the outcomes of disputes and shaping international community attention to the fact that Liberia has flipped the page of violence decades ago and is on a campaign of promote global peace.
THIS WHY WHEN THE Liberian government decided to pursue negotiations, we knew that the nation-state was working towards her diplomatic maturity and global democratic credentials, which the world saw for which she was elected to serve on the United Nations Security Council.
LIBERIA, IN OUR MIND has much to protect given her role in the fight for democratic governance in Africa and the promotion of peace in the Mano River Union basin.
THIS IS WHY WE APPLAUD the government for trending on diplomatic path despite the numerous provocations from our Guinean family, forgetting to know that Liberia and Guinea have enjoyed harmonious ties before the formation of these various regional bodies such as the African Union and The Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS).
IT WOULD BE IRONICAL TO look up to AU and ECOWAS to settle our conflict because nearly every nation in these organizations have their either inner or external conflicts in the provision of services they too are yet to provide for their citizen.
BY FOSTERING DIALOGUE and understanding the root cause of this land crisis, the both nations will one day realize that there is a need to amicably develop a workable strategy that will contain the culture of peace and mutual co-existence.
It is important that the ultimate goal of diplomacy in conflict zones is to achieve sustainable peace as we are aware that diplomatic efforts can lead to agreements that promote peace and stable democratic culture in our continent and sub region.
BRAVO TO THE GOVERNMENT for been so kind and diplomatic, but the question you must answer is, what become of the citizens who are displayed in their own county? What happen to the kids who school faced forceful closure due to fear and cycle social trauma.
