-Excavators Destroying Farmlands

Citizens in Grand Kru County towns affected by what is being referred to as excavator mining are asking authorities the Minds Ministry to help preserve their farm lands they alleged are being destroyed by a Chinese mining company.

The reports say farmlands in towns, including Buah, Forpoh and Sasstown are the worst affected by the class ‘A’ and ‘B’ mining operations in the County.

Farmlands in Communities such as Bolloh, Wedabo, Duboh Wakpo communities and others in the Southeastern Region are also allegedly undermined by the excavator mining.

Sources in the County are reporting that the alleged use of excavators to mine has become a setback to farming activities.

The reports said the situation, if not remedied, could exacerbate the already existing hunger and economic hardship for citizens in the Southeastern Region.
