-Did BEA Mountain Give VP Koung US$2M?
The development is unfolding just few days after Vice President Jeremiah Koung’s recent tour of the Bea Mountain Mining Corporation in Grand Cape Mount County.
The Vice President’s recent visit to the mining company, according to his office, was focused on concerns over revenue transparency, low local employment opportunities in specialized roles and a desire for greater national benefits.
Just days following his visit, reports are suggesting that the Management of Bea Mountain has agreed to fund the pending by-election in Montserrado County District-10 to fill the vacant seat created by the expulsion of Yekeh Kolubah.
The reports further suggested that the Management has given the Vice President a staggering two million United States Dollars to help fund the campaign of a candidate of his choice in the pending by-election.
The source of the reports, Kehleboe Gongloe, also alleged that the Bea Mountain Management has also agreed to fund the by-election, but fell short of providing a shred of evidence.
Gongloe’s claims come at a time there are unconfirmed reports that the Executive has funded the expulsion of the Montserrado District-10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah.
Some reports say each member of the House of Representatives that signed to expel Yekeh received twenty five thousand United States Dollars. So far, this Paper hasn’t heard of any official reaction from the House. Just recently, the leading opposition Congress for Democratic Change, CDC, expelled seven of its members it claimed received their shares of the money as an inducement to sign in favor of the expulsion Mr. Kolubah from the Legislature.
At the Monrovia office of Bea Mountain on 18th Street, Sinkor, the authorities there referred our reporters to the Company’s media office in Grand Cape County. At the same time, a source closed to the Management, but declined to do an official reaction to Kelehboe Gongloe’s claims, said Gongloe told a blatant lie, challenging him to prove his claims with evidence.
