‎The Liberian Government has said the evidence it has against former Vice President, Jewel Howard Taylor and others indicted in connection with the US$317 million cocaine case is strong enough to withstand the court’s admissibility process.

‎‎Speaking at the Ministry of Information’s press briefing on Thursday, October 8, 2026, Acting Solicitor General, Cllr. Abraham B. Sillah, said the government is confident that its evidence, following a thorough review by state investigators, is sufficient to prove the defendants’ guilt in court and ensure that justice is served.

‎‎Cllr. Sillah urged the public to remain calm, noting that the case has now moved from the investigation stage to the judiciary, while efforts continue to investigate other persons of interest.

He also rejected claims that the government is targeting former officials, saying the law will “go where the evidence leads.”

‎‎Those indicted include former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor, former LCAA Deputy Director, Mark Quiah, former NSA Deputy Director, Gerald Foley Smith, several foreign nationals, business and private individuals, and police officers, DCP Anthony T. Blaye and ACP Wadell W. Kwarbo.

The indictment also names “others to be identified” as the transnational narcotics investigation continues.
