WE SUPPORT MCC / LABOR MINISTRY'S DIALOGUE

WE WHOLEHEARTEDLY APPRECIATE AND support the Millinium Challenge Compact (MCC) and the Ministry of Labour dialogue, held in Monrovia, which has brought heads of the two institutions and their various support and technical teams together.

THESE ARE THE KINDS OF cross-cutting  engagements we expect our officials to engage with reputable companies and international governments related institutions in order to enhance performance and promote functional institutions in bridging the labour's gaps.

THE ASSURANCE MADE TO THE Liberian Government through the Ministry of Labour by the MCC'S team which has to do with exploring means to provide direct support towards the country's ongoing labour transformation program for job creation is a welcoming news.

WE ALSO APPRECIATE LABOR Minister  Hon. Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah, Sr. and team at the Ministry for the courage and determination they continue to demonstrate in seeking and  knocking doors of opportunities that will address the issue of labor gaps and strengthen performance in the country.

WE ALSO THANK HIGH POWER MCC's delegation headed by the Director, Dr. Sarah Jones for seeing the need to Hold  A Lengthy Exchanges Of Ideas with Labor Minister  Hon. Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah, Sr. and team at the Ministry recently.

IT IS OUR WISH FOR BOTH PARTIES TO uphold the pledges made during the dialogue because the issue of Labour gaps by job creation, and strengthening performance need to be bridged adequately to put smiles on the faces of our citizens.

AS THE MCC'S  VISITING TEAM adequately provided detailed information on several job creation programs recently initiated by the Ministry it is our wish for both teams to work with harmony in order to achieve the much anticipated dream of bridging the issue of labor gaps.

ANOTHER IDEA THE MINISTRY NEEDS to work on is to assign labor monitors and evaluation officers in concession areas, because there are reported abuses of workers rights.

WE ALSO NEED ONE WEEK National Labor Conference that will together employees and employers to discuss issues that affect their various performances and undermine gains, and to develop a workable resolution.

THE REFORMED ALIEN WORK Permit Regime, Annual Vacation Program being in conjunction with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and reinforcement of Occupational Health and Safety Program at workplace are issues that were discussed.

OTHER ISSUE THAT WAS discussed is the ongoing nationwide debate by the Tripartite Constituents on the revision of the Minimun Wage, among others.

MINISTER KRUAH AND TEAM, as you  assured the MCC's Delegation of Government's determination to improve the country's labour sector, protect existing private sector invesment concessions, revise  the current Minimun Wage to appreciable regional standard to benefit the economic livelihood of workers and  ensure protection for workers' welfare under robust occupational health program, among others, we want to assure you that we stand in prayer with you to see these good thoughts come to pass.

MR. MINISTER, YOUR REQUEST FOR direct financial and logistical support from the MCC to improve workplace monitoring exercise through enhanced training for Labor Inspectors and Heath and Safety Officers deployed at major concessions across the country is in place because there reported labor disputes that lead to abuse employees rights in workplaces of several concession areas.

THE MINISTRY THEN PRESENTED A copy of The Labor Ministry Occupational Health, Safety, and Welfare Manual to the MCC'S Team, we encourage that she attach urgency to the Ministry’s requests.

IT IS A GOOD SIGN OF PROGRESS when In response, for the MCC Boss  to commend Labor Minister Kruah and  staff for the ongoing labor transformation, promising that her organization will favorably review their list of requests and explore ways for direct support.

SHE DISCLOSED SEVERAL ONGOING meaningful contributions by the MCC  toward the government's ARREST AGENDA, especially in the energy and rural eletrification sectors.

SHE  FURTHER ENCOURAGED THE Labor Minister to continue protecting a decent labor environment, particularly for foreign investors.
