-Walks Out Of Proposed Coalition
The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), headed by political leader, Musa Hassan Bility, has formally withdrawn from the proposed opposition coalition being spearheaded by former President George Weah.
In a statement released recently, the Party said it does not endorse the coalition's current framework, arguing that the arrangement does not adequately reflect CMC's vision for constitutional reform, accountable governance, institutional independence, and transparent leadership.
While declining participation in the coalition process, CMC emphasized that it remains open to future opposition collaboration based on equality, consensus, and a shared commitment to national reform.
Mr. Bility has repeatedly said that he too wants to become president and does not desire to go second to anyone.
Bility, Representative of Nimba County District-7, said the County, the second most vote-rich county in Liberia deserves better and will not continue to be confined to the vice presidency.
Nimba County has produced three vice presidents, including Enoch Dogolea, 27th vice president fom 1997 until his death in 2000, Moses Z. Blah, 28th vice president and currently Jeremiah Koung, Vice President to Joseph N. Boakai.
Bility’s declaration of intent for the Liberian presidency was made less than 48 hours after he attended the opposition political parties’ roundtable discussions organized by former President George Weah.
