LIBERIANS AGAIN ARE WITNESSING the alliance, collaboration or the coming together of political parties, with the objective to amalgamate effort in holding government accountable for its action or inaction, especially, as it relates policy implementation that should reflect progressive governance and bring about reform. That in itself is good and we are looking forward for more collaborations.
WE HOPE THIS EFFORT IS a genuine initiative coming out of sincere hearts border on tolerance, foresight, and magnanimity where they will be able to handle their differences, Instead of running to the court when there is a dispute which could be resolved among themselves.
LIBERIANS DO NOT WANT the recurrence like what has happened in the case with the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), no more running to the court. Show political maturity this time.
IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT two of the parties that were part of the former four parties’ CPP in 2023 have resurfaced in this CDC- organized collaboration of political parties. We expect them to use their experiences and expertise to guide this initiative. They are the Alternative National Congress (ANC) of Alexandar Cummings and the All-Liberians Party (ALP) of Mr. Benonie Urey.
GATHERING IN A SINGLE ROOM with the intention to collaborate is not all to it, but demonstration of magnanimity and passion to work together with one agenda is what matters.
THESE FIVE POLITICAL PARTIES’ HEADS must show to Liberians that they are intentional about what they intent to do by their action. They should show us genuine examples of proven leadership records and qualities that will allay our fear that indeed, they are serious and ready for state craft.
THEY TOLD LIBERIANS THAT they are going to engage government on issues bordering on corruption, governance, foreign policy, and the drugs crisis, the question is, how are they going to do such engagement?
ARE THEY, AS A BODY GOING to issue press statements or hold press conferences and be done with it? Or are they going to advance a comprehensive framework document that will address prevailing challenges that are causing setback to the economic, social, and political advancement of the motherland?
THESE FIVE PARTIES’ COLLABORATION which include the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), the Alternative National Congress (ANC), the Movement for Economic Empowerment
(MOVEE), and the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC) as well as the Union of Liberian Democrats Party (ULDP) must show quality leadership trait. It is our hope this communique they have voluntarily signed on Sept. 27, committing themselves to sustained cooperation and a coordinated effort to hold the Boakai-Koung administration accountable should not end up in CHEY(OH)!
WE ARE ASKING THEM TO remain focused, courageous, determined and step fast to make that critical recommendations that could be a help to the government for the greater good of the country’s economy. They must use tolerance as a hallmark.
THIS COUNTRY IS AT A CRITICAL junction at this point in time of our national history, and therefore needs the collective effort of every well-meaning Liberian. There should come a time we all need to bury our political differences, forge ahead with the spirit of patriotism, loyalty and meekness.
LIBERIA IS IN A STATE OF serious deficit when it comes to good governance, and national leadership. There is a conspicuous leadership gap that is undermining potential growth, hampering economic advancement and impeding youth development. This leadership gap must be filled in order to ensure a saved democratic space.
WE ARE LOOKING UP TO THE government equally to demonstrate political maturity by creating a condition wherein the both can work as a team to confront those vices that have the propensity to divide our citizens and make them victims.
AFTERALL, LIBERIA IS THE only country we have and the only country we must promote and protect. Long live Mama Liberia, long live the people of Liberia, the motherland.
