AUDIT THE G/K TECHNICAL COLLEGE

Oct 21, 2026 | Grand Gedeh

STATISTICAL DETAILS GATHERED by this paper, has disclosed that the Grand Kru Technical Collage budgetary allotment has hit 1.2 million.  According to the National Budget summary for fiscal year 2026, the Ministry of Finance & Development Planning has disclosed that the College has entered the National Budget with a separate line item since 2019 to current like all other community colleges in the Republic of Liberia.

THE ALLOTMENT OF THE COLLEGE budget has been incremental from the date and year it had entered the national budget. In fiscal year, 2019 to 2022, the college received a minimum amount of not less than us$350,000 per annual to 1.2 million in 2026 incrementally. Unfortunately, the college had not been functional, not until, 2023, it started its operation. The college had not put up a single graduate form the day government had put up vigorous financial support.

THE COLLEGE HAS NOT BUILT her official campus to begin full scale academic work, instead continues to use the annex of the Barclayville Central School with no effort been made for relocation.

AS WE SPEAK, DESPITE the unwavering and uncompromising government financial support, the college is still squatting in the annex of the Barclayville Central High School.

IF WE AGGREGATE THE ANNUAL eight years budgetary allotment to the county’s community college, we will realize the sum of not less than 5. million United States dollars, yet, the college does not have her own tangible campus as a startup point. The question is, where does the aggregate 5 million , meant for the college go? Who should we ask?

THE COLLEGE HAS NOT HAD adequate structural administration, not until in 2024, Mr. Josephus Moses Gray was appointed to serve as its Acting President. We do not know what precipitated his replacement, but the college has another President, but he is not a resident in the county. He spends more time in Monrovia, than in the county, yet, his fabulous take home salary is running at the disadvantage of the students.

FISCAL YEAR 2024, THE GOVERNMENT had allotted US$584,312. In Fiscal year 2025, the sum of US$ 579, 046 was allocated for the college.

FY/ 2026, APPROVED BASED on National bin 2026 surge, the allocation more than doubled between 2025 and 2026.

THE LIBERIAN GOVERNMENT EXPANDED funding up to 1.23 million in the main draft and finalized and approved supplementary allocation with  630,144 explicitly channeled for education upgrade for the college.

NOW, AS WE SPEAK, THE Grand Kru Technical College has an undoubted budget line of US$1,230,144 in the 2026 national budget.

THERE HAS BEEN NO IMPACT of the money allotted to the county’s only higher institution. There are people who are having jamboree with money intended to provide adequate learning environment and facilities for citizens (Youth) seeking professional education. If you were to go and monitor where they are using as college’s campus, you will get dump-founded and shock because the college is far below college standard. One would wonder if this college is been supported by government

WE ARE THEREFORE CALLING on the General Auditing Commission to audit the financial records of the Technical College because from the look of things, the college financial records might be worn-out with massive corruption. It is believed that funds allotted to the college is not been adequately applied in keeping with budget law.

TO BE FRANK, WHEN PUBLIC money is placed in care of others, they must be audited in order to ensure that the money is applied in keeping with set budgetary allocations for targeted beneficiaries.
