AS SAID THAT THE GOVERNMENT of Liberia has assured teachers of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) that concerns regarding outstanding salaries, volunteer teachers enrollment, and salary adjustments will be addressed; good, it is our hope that these assurances are genuine in other to avoid the recurrence of such an ambarrassing scene.

THE GOVERNMENT MUST IDENTIFY national priorities and place a premier to them because it is unfare for government schools to be treated as under dog, as if teachers are not qualify to impact knowledge.

SPEAKING AT THE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION’S regular press briefing on Tuesday, when the  Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs Daniel O. Sando expressed government assurances,

We are optimistic that whatever assurances provided by the government must and shall be upheld because those decisions are policy driven decisions from the belly or the inner circle of authority.

THE ASSURANCES THAT FOLLOWS CONSULTATIONS involving the Ministries of Education and Finance and Development Planning, the Civil Service Agency, and the MCSS must be put into practice as parents await to see their kids return to school.

DEPUTY MINISTER SANDO, AS YOU have  disclosed that the government will enroll an additional 201 volunteer teachers on its payroll, bringing the total to 409, according to you, it is our wish that you speak in a concised and precised terms, pin pointing specifics. This holistic and general statistics bring about doubts and fear in the minds of people who have been following government approach to similar situation, like in the case of the University of Liberia,  where assurances were made to reopen the University,  yet the University remains closed.

HOW MANY VOLUNTEERS TEACHERS to be placed on payroll,  from which counties? what is their qualifications, we want to know.

EVENTHOUGH HE SAID THE NEWLY enrolled teachers are expected to receive their October salaries at the end of the month, while eligible teachers will receive retroactive payments following the October salary disbursement, in line with their respective eligibility categories, we want for the government to include the issue of students sitting capacity,  and other infrastructures, especially for schools in the leeward counties.

WE STRONGLY HOLD GOVERNMENT FOR her promise on salary adjustments for currently employed teachers.

DEPUTY MINISTER SANDO, AS YOU said that concerns about salary adjustments would be addressed through the ongoing government-wide Salary Structure Reform, which aims is to correct salary disparities and promote fairness, equity, and transparency across the public sector must be handled urgently because that a creeping virus in public sector management.

MR. DEPUTY INFORMATION MINISTER, as you  acknowledged teachers’ contributions to Liberia’s education system and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing their concerns through appropriate administrative and financial measures, please make sure that all of the assurances made are genuine to avoid the recurrence.

FOR MCSS' TEACHERS TO RETURN to their classrooms and encouraged students to resume regular academic activities, while calling for continued dialogue and constructive engagement with the relevant authorities with no tangible assurances, is something to see.

MR. DEPUTY MINISTER, WE WANT to see  that the government remains committed to protecting teachers’ legitimate interests and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of quality education across Liberia, government must sure tangible effort to resolve the education crisis.
