The Ministry of Information has emphasized the need for a coordinated, transparent, and effective government communication system as it advances the draft National Communication Strategy of Liberia for 2026–2031.

Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Daniel O. Sando, made the statement during a validation workshop for the draft strategy, during when he highlighted its importance in improving the flow of public information and strengthening communication between the government and citizens.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Information, Deputy Minister Sando expressed appreciation to participants, facilitators, government communication stakeholders, and members of the media for attending the workshop and contributing to the review of the proposed strategy.

According to Sando, the draft strategy is designed to provide a clear, coordinated, and results-oriented framework to guide government communication across ministries, agencies, and commissions.

He noted that the strategy seeks to promote consistency, transparency, and the delivery of credible information to the Liberian people, while strengthening institutional capacity and advancing digital transformation.

The Deputy Minister also said the proposed framework would encourage meaningful citizen engagement, reinforce national cohesion, and improve the government's ability to respond effectively to crises and misinformation.

He added that the strategy outlines communication structures, identifies priority audiences and messages, and proposes practical programs, government standards, and organizational reforms to support effective and accountable implementation.

Sando emphasized that the draft strategy aligns government communication with Liberia's national development agenda, particularly the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

He also underscored the principle of “One Government, One Voice,” describing it as an important approach to promoting consistency, coordination, and public trust in government communication.

The Deputy Minister said the strategy is intended to ensure that credible and consistent public information reaches citizens across the country, from Monrovia to remote communities.

He called on participants to make meaningful contributions during the validation exercise to strengthen the document before its eventual implementation.

The validation workshop forms part of the process of reviewing the draft National Communication Strategy, which aims to establish a more coordinated and accountable approach to public communication throughout the Government of Liberia.

The successful implementation of the strategy could help improve public access to government information, strengthen engagement between public institutions and citizens, and build greater confidence in official communication.
