Liberian women in the Legislature, in collaboration with other female parliamentarians in the Sub-Region under the banner, ECOWAS FEMALE PALIAMATARIAN, ECOFEPA, recently  Launched a High-Level Regional Masterclass dialogue to boost women leadership in global trade and governance.

The daylong entrepreneurs’ dialogue, according to one of the lead organizers, Rep. Maima Briggs Mensah, is meant to strengthen Liberian women in business and expose them to know that commitment in business is key.

The Bong County lawmaker said the organizers have seen the need to strengthen transparency and accountability in businesses to promote global trade.

The masterclass brought together women from Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria, respectively.

For House Speaker, Richard Nagbe Koon, he underscored the indispensable role of women as economic builders and democratic anchors. He made the remarks, while addressing international delegates in the chamber of the HOR.

Addressing an assembly of regional parliamentarians, development partners, and dignitaries, Speaker Koon said empowering women directly translates into stronger families, resilient communities, and prosperous sovereign nations.

Building upon the Speaker's remarks, First Vice President of the ECOWAS Female Parliamentarians Association, Zainab Gimba, strongly advocated for the comprehensive economic and political empowerment of women across the West African sub-region.

Gimba emphasized that true societal prosperity requires breaking systemic barriers that hinder female entrepreneurs, noting that commercially empowered women are better positioned to achieve political leadership roles.

The specialized gathering also featured remarks from the President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, and the Acting Minister of Commerce & Industry, Stephen Marka Yekeson, Jr., alongside a proxy representing First Lady Katumu Y. Boakai and other dignitaries, including Bong County District 6 Representative, Moima Briggs-Mensah, who graced the occasion.
