The chairman of the Asset Recovery Taskforce, Cllr. Edwin Kla Marthin, is urging people who have stolen government property to return it voluntarily.
He says they will receive a certificate for doing so.
Marthin said the taskforce’s main goal is to recover public property, not to arrest or prosecute people.
He added that returning the property could help resolve a person’s case more easily and with fewer penalties.
Those who refuse to cooperate may face legal action, he said, noting that prosecution can be costly and take a long time.
