Some concerned citizen of Montserrado County electoral District 10, have warned that President Boakai will be stopped from using the Congo Town–Capitol Hill route to go to work if a by-election is not held in the coming months.
The group insisted that the by-election must take place.
Speaking on behalf of the concerned citizens, George described former Representative Yekeh Kolubah as a “noise-maker” and accused him of mismanaging the district’s development funds.
He said the district remains poor and underdeveloped under Kolubah’s leadership.
George made the remarks following a meeting between district leaders and Chief Justice, Yemie Quiqui Gbesay.
The meeting came after district officials sent a written request, seeking the speedy adjudication of the case involving former Representative Kolubah.
The group said the deadline for holding the by-election has already passed and demands that the election be held in the coming months.
They also warned that if former Representative Kolubah is reinstated, protests will continue until a by-election is held.
Former Representative Kolubah was expelled by the House of Representatives after lawmakers said his public remarks about a disputed Liberia–Guinea border area violated legislative standards.
