-Says He Did Not Link IG Coleman

Liberians on Thursday, September 24, 2026, woke to the news that former Highway Patrol Chief , Wadell Kwarbo, had disclosed that Police Inspector General, Gregory Coleman, gave him instructions, asking him to ensure that officers escort suspected drugs from Royesville, a Township in Liberia.

Officer Kwarbo himself is facing prosecution for his alleged link to members of the drug cartel.

He was also quoted as saying that if the government and public doubt him, the court should subpoena the GSM Company to produce the conversation between him and the Police IG regarding the movement or escort of the cocaine.

Spoon Network’s Chief, Stanton Whither spoon, was quoted by the reports as saying that Kwarbo made the disclosure to him from his prison cell.

Since the seizure of a consignment of cocaine worth a little over three million United States Dollars, Police IG Coleman has been an object of suspicion that there is a likelihood that he is also linked to the cartel, an allegation that he has persistently denied amidst growing pressure on President Joseph Boakai to have him dismissed or suspended to face prosecution, although his accusers have fallen short of providing a shred of evidence to prove their claims.

In the wake of the former Chief of Highway Patrol, Kwarbo’s alleged revelation, this Paper also heard unverified reports that President Boakai is considering calls asking him to dismiss the Police Inspector General to face justice.

In reaction to the reports, the family of the former highway patrol chief, Kwarbo, has issued a statement, clarifying that at no time did he inform any source that he escorted a vehicle linked to the over US$300M million worth of cocaine on the orders of the Police Inspector General.

The family’s statement said neither the family, nor Kwarbo’s legal team had been informed of, or had authorized any statement by him alleging that the Police IG instructed him to facilitate or escort any illegal narcotic substances.

The family has reiterated that the former highway patrol chief has at no time made no statement of such nature.

The family said their son has persistently denied his involvement or link to any cocaine or drugs business.

For Coleman himself, he said he remains unwavering in pursuing individuals suspected of link to drug cartels no matter what his critics say about him. “ I have no regrets of doing my work and will not be deterred from doing the right thing”, IG Coleman emphasized.
