A County coordinator of the National Disaster Management Agency, NDMA, has testified before Criminal Court “C” that a reported shipment of 5,000 bags of Saudi-donated rice never reached the agency’s regional hub in Gbarnga.
According to his testimony, the largest quantity he received during the period was 280 bags, which he said were distributed to communities affected by disasters.
Meanwhile, Lakpazee Community Chairman, Isaac K. Weede, told the court that he never received Saudi-donated rice and was unaware of any such distribution in the community.
The defense questioned the witnesses’ knowledge of rice distributions across all communities and blocks.
The case involves 29,412 bags of Saudi-donated rice, with prosecutors alleging that more than 25,000 bags were unlawfully diverted or misapplied.
Former Foreign Minister, Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, and other defendants denied the allegations and remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
