-WHAT ARE THE IMPACTS
OUR ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO THE PRONOUNCEMENT made by the government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning and the Liberia Revenue Authority as it relates to the uncompromising and scrupulous collection of US$1 billion in domestic revenue.
THIS OPEN DECLARATION BY THE GOVERNMENT has caused jubilation in many quarters among the citizens because they feel that this US$1.2 billion projected national budget will bring certain level of relief to the citizens and improve the livelihood of ordinary Liberians
THANK GOD THAT WE HAVE HEARD from the horse’s mouth that revenue collection is on target. Mo budget shortfall complains. Kudos to the government for this amazing news bordered on the domestic revenue collection front. We also thank (us), the tax payers for our for upholding our patriotic duty of ensuring that lawful taxes are paid to the government for effective application of these taxes for the betterment of society.
AS THE GOVERNMENT IS DEVELOPING THE 2027 National Budget, it is our wish for the framers of the National budget attention be drawn to several sectors of our national economy that must be touched bring relief to the ordinary citizens and foreign residents alike.
WE DO NOT WANT TO HEAR EXCUSES of budget shortfall, with this budget on course, it is our expectation that essential drugs and services will be in the various hospitals, clinics, and even additional construction of more public hospitals and mobile clinics in rural communities.
THERE IS NO REASON WHY PUBLIC schools in the leeward counties should still be in a state of dilapidated and deplorable condition. In several instances, no doors, no sitting capacities for students, and worst of it all, there is no library and laboratory for science students.
THE COLLECTION OF US$1.2 BILLION revenue has become milestone, but that is not the point, the point is the impact of this money in the livelihood of the people is what matters. Information of domestic revenue collection been celebrated in street conners by this government should not be a convincing reason why we should put smile on our faces as ordinary people, until it is proven beyond all reasonable doubts that something positive is happening, even though, Liberians have not felt the impact of the 1 billion.
MARKET WOMEN ARE STILL CRYING, Civil Servants are regretting for signing the infamous song against former President George Weah, “you harmonized my pay, I’ll harmonize your votes”.
60% OF OUR POPULATION (THE youth) are crying due to the government inability to provide jobs and other opportunities for economic and social advancement. Health workers, teachers and security officers must experience the impact of the US$1.2 billion.
MONEY CANNOT SPEAK VERBALLY, but what it does can make people to know that money is around. So, please let the government stop the bragging and focus on tangible that will upgrade the livelihood of the citizens.
