-UP Supporter, Sen. Kogar, Add Up Pressure
An ardent supporter of the ruling Unity Party-led Government, Varney A. Teah, and Nimba County Senator, Samuel Kogar, have added their voices to other voices, further intensifying pressure on Police Inspector General, Gregory Coleman, to step aside from ongoing drug-related investigation.
Like others, Mr. Teah, popularly known as “Strong Gbana Pekin,” is asking the Police IG to resign in the wake of allegations linking him to those associated with alleged drug cartels.
Teah said IG Coleman’s recusal would protect the integrity and credibility of the ongoing probe into the drug-related brouhaha.
“As an ardent supporter of President Boakai and his Rescue administration, the Police IG should resign as head of ther Liberia National Police” recuse himself from the ongoing investigation and step down as IG of the Liberia National Police,” Teah added.
In a separate, but related development, Nimba County Senator, Samuel Kogar, has accused the Boakai administration of shielding individuals he said have links with drug cartels, it allegedly pursues officials of the ex-President Weah’s administration,.
Kogar named President Boakai’s son as one of the individuals he said the government is allegedly shielding, but the Nimba Senator fell short of providing any shred of evidence.
“I wonder why the authorities have not invited the President’s son, adding that doing so, would demonstrate impartiality in the ongoing investigation”, Senator added.
Kogar is meanwhile asking President Joseph Boakai to suspend Police Inspector General, Gregory Coleman, if allegations brought against him are credible.
The Nimba Senator made the remarks early this week at an intellectual center in Monrovia.
He condemned the Boakai administration for the arrest and subsequent detention of former Vice President, Jewel Howard-Taylor, adding that the government needed to handle the matter differently because of her status and former positions in public service, but the same Kogar, who is accusing the government of selective justice is at the same time seeking preferential treatment of the former Vice President under the same justice system.
