The Federation of Fula Students of Liberia (FFUSOL) has launched a ‘Back to School Campaign’ under the Yaya Sow Educational Initiative, established in honor and memory of the late Veteran Yaya Sow.
The initiative, originally launched on October 13, 2025, seeks to preserve Veteran Yaya Sow’s legacy by promoting education, student empowerment, and community development.
The latest campaign aims to provide books, school supplies, and financial assistance to students facing economic challenges as they prepare for the new academic year.
While the initial distribution will focus on schools and students in Montserrado County, FFUSOL says it intends to extend support to other counties where the organization has structures.
The Federation says it is seeking to raise LRD $300,000 to support the campaign. The funds will be used to purchase educational materials, assist less-privileged students, support successful University of Liberia entrance examination candidates who need help enrolling, and contribute to educational activities in counties across Liberia.
The organization is appealing to individuals, businesses, philanthropists, civil society organizations, government officials, development partners, and members of the public both in Liberia and abroad to contribute. Donations may include books, notebooks, pens, school bags, shoes, uniforms, computers, financial assistance, and other useful educational materials.
FFUSOL says the campaign is intended to complement government efforts to make education more accessible, particularly the implementation of free tuition and registration in public schools. However, the organization notes that students continue to face challenges obtaining basic learning materials, making community and private-sector support important.
Meanwhile, FFUSOL has announced plans for its 2026 Career Day, scheduled for September. The program will bring students together with professionals from various fields to learn about career opportunities, professional experiences, challenges, and lessons learned.
According to FFUSOL, applications are expected to open through a Google Form in early September and will be available to eligible students across Liberia, not only those in Monrovia. Successful applicants will participate in discussions and have opportunities to ask professionals questions about education, career choices, employment, internships, entrepreneurship, and professional development.
Federation of fula students of Liberia(FFUSOL) is encouraging students to follow its official social media platforms from September 1 for information about the Career Day application.
The Federation of Fula Students of Liberia says both initiatives are part of its broader commitment to supporting young people and ensuring that poverty does not prevent children and students from accessing education.
