Gbarpolu Supt. Outlines Progress

Aug 19, 2026 | Gbarpolu

Gbarpolu County Superintendent, Sam K. Zinnah, has highlighted several development gains he says his administration has made across the County.

He named healthcare, community empowerment, and local governance as areas he said gains have been made.

Superintendent Zinnah said the County leadership is working with development partners and community stakeholders to ensure that resources are directed towards projects that address the daily needs of the citizens and residents.

He made the disclosure on Tuesday in Monrovia when Media Excellence Incorporated honored him as the best performing superintendent for the year 2025/2026.

The honoree also named road rehabilitation and the construction of bridges as being amongst projects his administration has undertaken to help improve access to communities, markets, schools, and health facilities.

"A 2025 government report noted that improvement in infrastructure in Gbarpolu has enhanced transportation and access to essential services" the Gbarpolu superintendent added.

Superintendent Zinnah disclosed that ActionAid Liberia has provided financial assistance for the construction of maternal waiting homes to help pregnant women living faraway places to timely access care in Gbarpolu County.

He emphasized the importance of community-led development, saying local authorities are working to sustain gains achieved through partnerships with development organizations.

Zinnah cited initiatives supporting women and girls, including the establishment of a traditional arts school and plans to expand the initiative to additional communities.

He welcomed efforts toward fiscal decentralization, noting that delays in the disbursement of development funds have historically affected the implementation of projects in the County.

The Gbarpolu Superintend noted that recent initiative by the  government to introduce treasury services closer to counties is expected to improve local financial management and service delivery.

Despite the progress, Superintendent Zinnah acknowledged that Gbarpolu continues to face challenges, including limited infrastructure and the need for greater financial support for development projects.

He called for continued collaboration between the national government, county authorities, development partners, and citizens to accelerate development and ensure that ongoing projects have a lasting impact on communities.

Zinnah  said the county remains committed to promoting inclusive development and improving the living conditions of residents across Gbarpolu.
