-FORMS COMMITTEE TO PROBE ALLEGATION

Reports reaching this Paper say Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction, MDR’s leadership has constituted an ad Hoc Inquiry Committee to probe and expel Senator Samuel Kogar if found guilty of allegedly making unfounded remarks against the party.

The MDR claims one of its kind, Nimba County Senator, Samuel Korga, is in alignment with opposition political parties ahead of the 2029 legislative and presidential elections and is making remarks incompatible with his status.

The MDR is one of the Political Parties that is in collaboration with the ruling Unity Party.

The party accused Sen. Kogar of undermining recent changes it made ahead of the of the ensuing 2029 elections, mainly at a time it is being rumored that he, Sen. Kogar, is politically fighting Vice President, Jeremiah Koung, because his ambition of wanting to be a running mate to former President, George M. Weah, on the ticket of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).

Sen. Kogar and VP Koung, besides the internal political tussle within the MDR had been at each other throats for Nimba County God-father’s position.

In a communication to NDR’s Inquiry Committee Chairman, Atty. Theophilus T. Gbeadah, Sr., Senator Kogar’s legal team, headed by Cllr. Garrison Yealo, questioned the timing of the complaint against Kogar and the establishment of the committee.

According to the letter, the complaint against the Nimba County Senator and the reported establishment of the Ad Hoc Inquiry Committee occurred on August 5, 2026.

Kogar’s lawyers said the timing raises questions about whether the procedures prescribed by the MDR Constitution were followed before the complaint was referred for investigation.

Despite the objections, the legal team said Kogar is not refusing to participate in the party’s internal proceedings.

Kogar’s legal team confirmed that he is prepared to appear before the committee on August 12 as scheduled, but will reserve his right to challenge the committee’s jurisdiction and competence if the requested documentation is not provided.

The lawyers maintained that transparency and adherence to the MDR’s Constitution should guide the disciplinary process.

The Kogar legal team’s challenge comes amid growing internal tensions within the MDR and involving Kogar, one of the party’s prominent political figures of Nimba County.

The controversy intensified following recent political comments attributed to the Senator, prompting some members of the party to demand action against him.

As of the issuance of the letter, the MDR Ad Hoc Inquiry Committee has not publicly responded to the request for documentation establishing its authority.

Kogar’s scheduled August 12 appearance is expected to determine whether the internal proceedings move forward or face further legal and political challenges.
