The popular saying in Liberia that ‘when you pull the rope, the rope will pull the grass’ is seemingly manifesting itself in the illegal drugs brouhaha that has engulfed entire Country.
Another name that has surfaced in connection to the recent drug bust at the Roberts International Airport is, Lofa County Senator, Momo Cyrus, chairman on the Liberian Senate’s Committee on defense, security, intelligence and veteran affairs.
To set the record straight, Senator Cyrus’s name did not emanate from the Joint Security probing the high profile matter, but from Liberian journalist, Rodney Sieh, who has said his reliance is information he is receiving from the Senate itself.
Journalist Sieh in a write out said information he has received is suggesting that the Senate is in an uproar over the matter and that the Senator, who is particularly being confronted, is Senator Cyrus, also owner of the private security company, SEGAL that reportedly provides security for GLS members. GLS is one of the companies or agencies linked to the recent cocaine bust.
“The information I received tonight is that the Senate is in an uproar because, among themselves, he has been confronted about it. I understand the first thing he said was, 'What does that have to do with me?
"You can curse me from now until Judgment Day. We will investigate this thing to the end. All those in government who are involved, in one way or another, must explain to the Liberian people their relationship with this crisis and this drug cartel."
"The security firm provided security for GLS members. I understand they overlooked some things that went through those people's places. When the truth comes out, they will have to explain to the Senate and the Liberian people what this is all about."
"I just want people to know these individuals are entrenched in our country. Momo Cyrus is a senator and chairman of the committee on defense that is supposed to protect our borders. I hope you understand what is happening here."
"This is something we have to examine. It is very important for our country. It is not personal against anybody, but this issue has the capacity to disrupt Liberia's existence. Drugs are not something you play with."
"I hope Senator Momoti Cyrus will come on the show tomorrow and explain something to the Liberian people. Why is he serving as chairman of the committee? First of all, it's a conflict of interest. He cannot be serving as chairman of the Defense Committee while this case is going on and remain silent about it."
There has, so far, not been any official reaction from Senator Momo Cyrus.
It was the same Journalist Sieh, who recently displayed on the Spoon TV, multiple photographs depicting Vice President Jeremiah Koung and one of the suspects.
The Vice President has written on his social media page, denying any personal relationship with the gentleman, saying as Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, he routinely take photos with many people, many of whom he does not know.
Sieh has alleged that the drug cartel is entrenched in the Liberian government.
“Entrenched. I will say the three branches of government”, he said emphatically.
Meanwhile, journalist Sieh has alleged that people are attacking him on social media and that’s what he’s hearing.
