Although the 2029 presidential and general elections are a little over three years away, opposition political parties, particularly the CDC, ANC, MPC and others are becoming impatient and wish the elections were to be held today because of their obsession for State power like was the ruling Unity Party when it was in opposition.
A few days ago, leaders of opposition political parties assembled in the Southeastern City of Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, to participate in the 22nd anniversary of the former ruling CDC of George Weah.
Pertinent amongst the discussions was a strategic plan to form a coalition with the CDC of George Weah to unseat the current government.
Just recently, former Montserrado County District-8 Representatives, Moses Acarous, wrote on his social media page, predicting that former President George Weah of the Congress for Democratic Change, CDC, will win in 2029 with first round majority.
Just a fortnight ago, the National Chairman of the Alternative National Congress, ANC Youth Congress, Alieu Kiadii, quoted by a statement, said the Party’s political leader, Alexander Benedict Cummings, is the best alternative for Liberia for the presidency.
It was the ANC political leader that delivered the keynote address at that event.
His Youth Congress said has argued that since post war Liberia, the ruling Unity Party and the former ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) have over 21 years governed without any positive change, adding that if given the opportunity, the ANC political leader, with his international experience and contacts, will revive the Liberian economy, create jobs and restore public confidence.
Cummings contested the Liberian presidency twice, but lost both elections winning a little over one percent of the total votes.
Speaking last evening at the Center for Intellectual Freedom (CIF) located between Carey and Buchanan Streets in Monrovia, the Cummings’ ANC Youth Congress Chairman, Kiadii occasion called on Liberia’s youthful population to resist being carried away by the rhetoric of who he called fake politicians and focused on the growth of the Country.
He highlighted the energetic role that young people must play in redesigning Liberia’s political scenery as the nation moves towards 2029, when Liberia will head to another Presidential Election.
“Our youth must lead the charge in connecting with the people of Liberia, understanding their needs, and advocating for change that will benefit everyone” he said
The ANC was established on 17 August 2013 and is a registered political party in Liberia.
The Party is a breakaway faction of the former ruling CDC of soccer legend, George Weah.
