- Say His Donated Canoe Is Valueless

Bomi County Senator, Edwin Melvin Snowe,  had thought the people of the County that he represents in the Liberian Senate, would have spread for him a red carpet to walk on because he donated a canoe to the County, but instead, they condemned him and said a canoe is inadequate to address the development needs of the County.

During the official presentation in the County, Senator Snowe reportedly described the canoe as the ‘light of the the people’, saying that it was his way of supporting the local communities.

The matter has gone viral on the social media, sparking mixed reactions from Bomi citizens, many of whom have said the County requires more substantial development initiatives than a wooden and ancient canoe.

Momo Kamara, a citizen of Grand Cape Mount County, in a comment on the social media, said a canoe is insufficient for a sitting Senator.

“This guy is very wicked,” Kamara wrote. “Ancient days senator donated a common canoe to his county that any ordinary person can afford easily. He didn’t think of donating a modern boat, but a wooden canoe  just to endanger the suffering masses,” Kamara said scornfully.

Another citizen, Mohammed Hossan, suggested that voters would ultimately determine  the senator’s performance at the ballot box.  “We, as Bomi County citizens, will answer those questions in 2029,” Hossan wrote on the social media.

The criticisms come amidst broader public discussions about development priorities and the responsibilities of elected officials to their constituents.

For Snowe’s supporters, they think the wooden canoe would help contribute to local transportation needs, while his critics argue that larger and more sustainable development projects are needed to improve living conditions in the county.
