-Proposes One Alliance, One Vision

Alexander Cummings, political leader of the Alternative National Congress, ANC, has appeared in the news again, this time seeking an opposition alliance ahead of the much anticipated 2029 presidential and general elections.

Such an alliance, he said must have a single vision for Liberia rather than a mere quest for political power.

“We have always been opened to collaborate. We will collaborate differently. It is too early,” Cummings stated.

Cummings said Liberia’s political landscape extends beyond the ruling Unity Party and the former ru;ing Congress for Democratic Change.

“There are other political parties in the country besides the two big parties. We are open to collaboration with everybody,” he said, adding that his party is willing to engage a broad range of stakeholders.

The ANC political leader has however emphasized that any future coalition must be built on clearly defined principles and objectives rather than solely on efforts to gain political office.

“We are not just going to collaborate just because we want to take power. I am so clear that if we are going to go into collaboration, we have to be clear on the agenda,” he asserted.

The former presidential candidate further indicated that the ANC is prepared to work with any institution whose goals are aligned with the party’s vision for Liberia.

“We are open to collaboration with any institution that is aligned with what we want for the country,” Cummings added.

His comments come amid growing discussions within Liberia’s opposition community about potential alliances and strategies ahead of future political contests.

While Cummings did not provide specifics regarding any ongoing negotiations, his remarks suggest that the ANC remains receptive to partnerships grounded in shared policy objectives and national interest.

Political observers say opposition collaboration could play a significant role in shaping Liberia’s political landscape in the years leading up to the next general elections.
