-Deputy MICAT Minister, Daniel Sando
Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs, Daniel Sando, has, without mincing his words, said former President George Weah, has limited capacity to lead Liberia. “It was the reason why he and his CDC were voted out,” Deputy Minister Sando said.
Sando said the ex-president has nothing to tell the Liberian people, but to make baseless claims such as he sent President Boakai to hospital, while he Weah was president.
The Government’s deputy spokesman said the opposition CDC’s political leader and former President is known for going on the social media to talk what Sando calls rubbish.
Sando made the remarks Tuesday during the MICAT’s regular Tuesday press briefing. During that day’s press briefing, a lone protester stood across the road opposite the Ministry with a placard that read; ‘I triple dare the deputy Information Minister to insult ex-president Weah’.
Reporters in the MICAT building on Capitol Hill, who attempted to provide coverage for the lone protester, according to reports, were stopped by the MICAT authorities, and if they did, were disallowed to enter the building.
This Paper has not independently verified the reports. Members, supporters and fans of former President Weah have consistently frowned on officials of the Ministry of Information for what they called the MICAT officials continued inelegant remarks against the former President.
The MICAT officials have in response said as long as the former President does not respect himself, he too does not deserve respect.
Critics of the MICAT officials said rather than address the critical concerns of the opposition and others, the MICAT officials are fond of evading the issues, but instead, make disparaging remarks against critics of the government.
For others, some elements in the opposition community, including former President Weah and his followers, deserve the harsh reactions of the MICAT officials because they opposition elements have also shown President Boakai and his officials disrespect.
